The photograph above, the lighting and the way of presentation is quite similar to the work of Penny Klepuszewska; A dozing man, Lydia Goldblatt’s ninety-one years old father, sat on a chair after his meal.
The series ‘Still Here’ is from a British photographer Lydia Goldblatt. She started to do a documentary of her parents in 2010 and until her father’s death, in 2013; she recorded the ‘evidence’ of her parents and gives witness to the ephemerality of life. What made her start to record her parents daily life was because her parents’ health had begun to deteriorate. Goldblatt focus on the ageing of her parents, combines close observations of still life and portraits. In this body of work, she wants her viewers contemplate the nature of life and the love between human. In an interview Goldblatt said that this project made her to reconnect with her father,  “A reason to re-engage with me and his surroundings.” (TRAFF, 2014)
There is a same effect on me, although grandma and I are not biologically related, because of this project, it makes me knew more about grandma, her stories, her experiences and her thought (Recordings are attached below). In my opinion, Although people and elderly  might have a different perspective on things and life, people should respect and be thoughtful for them. Life is short and we should be treasure to the things and people around us.
In ‘Still here’, I especially love the two images above. Goldblatt captured the sunlight from the window frame and through the curtains, the shadows are extremely fascinating; she shown the softness of lights. She inspired me to do some similar shots with sunlight in grandma’s room; grandma meet and greet the sunrise and sunset on her bed everyday, therefore I will like to capture some images when the sunlight irradiated into her room, show a warm feeling instead of lonely feeling in this project.
